Why Anki works but does not fit everyone

0

Anki is powerful because spaced repetition really works

The core idea of Anki is correct: material should return by intervals, not just be read once. That is why Anki can be a very strong tool. The problem is not the principle. The problem is how many decisions the user must make alone.

You must find a base and configure the process yourself

In Anki you need to choose or build a deck, check card quality, understand settings, and maintain discipline. For a motivated user, that is fine. For most people, it is an extra barrier: instead of training, they start maintaining a system.

“Know / do not know” is often weaker than strict typed checking

In many cards, the user decides whether they remember the word. This is convenient, but too soft. You can recognize the answer visually and press “know”, even if the word would not appear in real speech. Typing is stricter: either you retrieved the word from memory or you did not.

Interface and discipline become part of the problem

Anki fits people who are ready to live inside a card system, manage decks, and not abandon the process. But if someone needs a simple scenario — open, finish the daily target, close — Anki often feels too technical.

CORE95 removes setup and leaves action

The idea is simpler: a ready base of frequent words, typed answer checking, a clear daily target, progress, streak, and offline-first. You do not decide which deck to choose or what to repeat today. You just do the cards.
